Aren Van Houzen currently resides in Canton, MO and works as an Assistant Professor of Music at Culver-Stockton College and as a freelance performer throughout eastern Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri. Aren holds contracted positions with Orchestra Iowa and Quincy Symphony Orchestra, chamber performances with Durward Ensemble and freelances throughout the tri-state area. He also maintains a modest private studio. He has been a featured soloist with several performing organizations in the tri-state area and continues to develop a modest soloing/clinicing schedule.
Further activity in the music industry has included performing with Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra and Clyde Beatty Cole Brothers Circus. He has also apprenticed with mouthpiece and mute manufacturers while offering custom trumpet alterations in the late 1990’s. Aren earned his education through Hope College; B.Mus, and the University of Iowa; M.A, D.M.A.
Fun fact, Aren was also the Owner/Operator of Van Houzen Brewing Company, which operated in the state of Iowa from 2011-2017.
